- Milk (3 cups)
- Heavy Cream (1 cup)
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (1/3 cup)
- Sugar (3/4 cup)
- Nutmeg (grated; a pinch)
- Salt (a pinch)
- Whiskey/Bourbon/Rum (2 ounces)
- Peppermint Candy (optional; for garnish)
- Marshmallow (optional; for garnish)
In a bowl, combine cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and nutmeg.
In a saucepan, add the milk and bring it to a boil. Set the flame to low and add the cocoa mixture and give it a stir.
Bring the mixture to a simmer and then add the heavy cream and the alcohol of your choice and continue to boil on low heat. Once the liquid starts to thicken up, divide between mugs.
If using peppermint candy, lightly bash it in a pestle and mortar.
If using marshmallows, place them into each mug and then sprinkle over the crushed peppermint candy. If you have a blow torch, lightly torch the marshmallows and serve.
