Minced Beef & Turkey Tacos with Avocado salsa

Ingredients for minced beef & turkey:

  • Ground Beef (1 lb)
  • Ground Turkey (1 lb; preferred to use ground pork but I couldn’t find any so used turkey)
  • Red Chili (2 thinly sliced)
  • Ginger (finely chopped)
  • Garlic (finely chopped)
  • Green onions (finely chopped)
  • Lime
  • Fish Sauce (1 tbsp)
  • Toasted Sesame Seed Oil (1 tsp)
  • Olive Oil (1 tbsp)
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Ingredients for Avocado Salsa:

  • Avocado (3-4 pitted and diced)
  • Bell peppers (Half each of orange and yellow finely diced)
  • Red Chili (2 finely sliced)
  • Onion (1 medium-sized finely chopped)
  • Cilantro (1 bunch finely chopped)
  • Lime
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Directions:

In a bowl mix the two meat together and season it with salt and pepper.

In a hot pan, add the olive and then add the meat. The turkey meat is going to give ooze out water so let all the water evaporate and continue cooking for a few more minutes to get a nice crispy texture. Once the meat is crispy transfer it to a strainer to get rid of any excess fat. This will make sure to retain the crispiness of the meat.

In the same pan, add the sesame seed oil and then add the red chili, ginger and garlic. Cook it for a minute or two and then add the meat back into the pan. Give it a nice stir.

Add the fish sauce, zest of the lime, and juice of half the lime and cook for couple of minutes.

Finally, add the green onions and give it a mix. Cook for 15 – 20 seconds and take it off the heat and transfer it to a serving bowl.

For the avocado salsa, add all the ingredients into a bowl and give it a mix.
