Thai Steamed Mussels


  • Mussels (Clean by removing the beard and scrapping of any impurities)
  • Bacon (cut to bite size pieces)
  • Onion (finely chopped)
  • Ginger (cut in length)
  • Garlic (finely chopped)
  • White Wine
  • Red Curry Paste
  • Coconut Milk
  • Lemon Juice
  • Cilantro (finely chopped)


In a large stock pot, add the bacon and let it cook. Once the bacon is cooked take it off the pot and place it on a plate.

In the bacon fat, add garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds and then add the chopped onion and cook till it’s translucent.

Now, add the wine and cook for another 10-15 secs and add the red curry paste and the lemon juice.

Add the coconut milk and bring it to boil. Boil for a couple of minutes and then add the mussels.

Cover and cook, stirring occasionally for 5-8 minutes and discard any unopened mussels.

Serve it with lots of cilantro.
